Here’s another unposed Saturday morning photo of Marina feeding Nyusha from a couple of days ago.

My daughter, Nyusha, getting one of her first meals. She’s a few hours old here, we’re still in the delivery room.

I’m going to keep going for a little while with pictures from the first couple of days of Nyusha’s life. I shot a total of 3 rolls of film while we were at the hospital and got a surprising number of photos I’m happy wihth. I’m (obviously) not going to post all of ‘em here lest they take over this website, but here’s another one and there will likely be a few more following it.

On this one, she’s already something like a day old, relaxing after a morning meal.

I took this a few minutes after my daughter Nyusha was born a week and a half ago.

My head was spinning and my hands were shaking.

I got this pic on my second attempt. I had tried to shoot it (and other like it, I’ll be posting at least one more) a couple of weeks ago, failed miserably, and reshot this Saturday.

7 weeks to go.

This is also my first attempt to use D-DX to develop Delta 3200. I like what I got better than my experiments with Rodinal at high dilutions and long times. I’ve had a love-hate relationship with that film for a long time now, but I think I’m actually beginning to get a feel for it now.

I got this shot of Marina a couple of weeks ago during a stroll in the Redwoods Regional Park.

One thing I’m very mindful of lately is that this blog is turning into my family album, which is not, in general, a direction I want to take it in. Between being burried with work, expecting a baby in a couple of months, and all the family stuff I had going on recently, I just haven’t been getting out there and shooting anything that’s even somewhat a production. I’m going to try to change that. Really, I will.

This is probably the single most important photograph I’ve posted here so far.

My grandmother, Luba Goldin, is video-chatting with her grand-daughter (my niece) from her hospital-bed in Israel on the last good day of her life. The next morning she has taken a turn for the worse, and one day later she died.

She was one of my favorite people and I miss her incredibly.

There are many such mornings, where I wake up, and as I’m lying there still somewhat in a daze I think to myself “I really need to get up, put a roll of film into my camera, and take a picture of this”. In most cases, I then proceed to fall back asleep, or lie there and stare at the ceiling, thinking just how happy I am, or something.

This time around it actually happened. Another happy moment of my life documented for posterity.
